Probably the best-sounding sbd of this set you're going to find; no high-pitched whine and everything's transferred beautifully.

85 was quite the experimental year for the band - while I never really put a lot of emphasis on how setlists influence the quality of a show, in 85 they played around with it so much and so often that you can't help but measure the list in with the playing.

We begin with a rockin' triptych medley - Jer ending the set clearly in full Nashville Skyline-mode (hey, that move may indeed have saved his voice!)....and end with another. Matthew Kelly on harp is always a treat.

I wasn't a huge fan of mid 80's Dead till I listened to this show! It got me into the great year of 1985! This has to be one of the best shows of that year. The Truckin>Smokstack Lightning is phenominal and the China>Rider is killer! Listen to this whole show with this replacing the other SBDs first part of set 1.

Subject: Seeking Copy of This
Does anyone have this first set to trade or seed ? My hard drive crashed and I lost my copy. Please drop me an e-mail if you can hook me up: edolexajdmba at yahoo.com. This IS one of the best first sets ever - the Peggy-O is my all-time fav.

Crisp and clean -- w/ something other than caffeine. CC>Rider is very patient - Jerry's pickings are yumyum, voice is ahh-eye-t, then Phil comes in strong...BOom BoOm! They miss some notes here and there -- but hey, so did I.

Brent is great - even Bobby's got it going on.

HiQual SB.

Subject: One of the Best First sets
This is by far one of my favorite later era first sets. Its also possibly one of the best china riders ever

Subject: better than the other sbd
This one sounds cleaner. Too bad it's just the 1st set.
